Imagine having the opportunity to step into one of the pivotal moments in Belle and Beast’s remarkable love story. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the view of each painting is opposite the other–the position of Belle and Beast at one side of the ballroom, with the other characters witnessing with wonder in the far background of the doorway, and the position of the supporting cast waiting in the doorway watching Belle and Beast dancing across the floor.
In Gratitude, Mrs. Potts and Chip, Cogsworth and Lumiere finally get to see the long awaited fruits of their labors. Jubilation fills their expressions with gratitude and even Sultan, the castle’s favorite pooch, romps happily around the dancing couple at the far end of the ballroom. It’s here that you realize, as you get a glimpse into their perspective, that the Happy Endings that any of us experience truly cannot come to pass without the love, support, and sometimes gentle “pushing” of the innumerable individuals who come in and out of our lives. We should be forever grateful for them and find ways to pay it forward. In this second side of the diptych, only a single Easter Egg is tucked up in the chandelier: the impetuous Stitch hides behind the candles, ready to cause playful chaos (and inspired by the 2002 famous teaser trailer for his film).
